On 15, 16 and 17 March, the Parish of Alcabideche received a visit from the Cross of the Diocesan Organizing Committee of World Youth Day, which is on pilgrimage through the various con garters and parishes of the Diocese of Lisbon. The aim of this visit was that all young people could see the Cross and that no young person is unaware of the existence of world youth day, which will take place in Lisbon, as early as next year, between 1 and 6 August 2023.
During this visit, the Cross toured different places of the parish: the various schools, places of worship (churches and chapels), religious communities, the parish’s nursing home, the prison, the Parish Council and the Fire Department. In all these places was received with great cheer and joy on the part of all!
At the Salesian School of Manique, the program of the visit had a Collective Good Day, a happy meeting that took place in the school yard. The students heard the hymn of the Lisbon World Youth Day 2023, were presented with a contextualization of the different World Youth Days and received from the visit of the Cross. Sofia Guerreiro, a former Salesian student who participated in the Panama Day in 2019, presented her testimony, sharing with the students the joy she lived in those days, and motivating them to actively participate as volunteers and host families in The World Youth Day in Lisbon! This visit of the Cross, like our Lady’s visit to her cousin St Elizabeth, was a great grace of God for all those who have been visited! Like Mary, let us not fail to leave in haste for this World Youth Day!
