On April 30, upon his return from a trip to Hungary, Pope Francis confirmed his presence in Lisbon for World Youth Day, which will take place between August 1 and 6.
Francis had already confirmed his presence to Bishop Américo Aguiar, auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, during a private audience with him on 27 April. “I spoke with D. Américo, who came to see how things were,” Francis concluded.
The Pope also recalled that his health is not the same as it was two years ago, but that, despite his trip to the hospital due to acute pneumonia, his “body responded well to treatment,” so there is no reason to cancel this trip for the moment.
