The National Shrine of Our Lady Help of Christians, in Mogofores, Anadia, is preparing to receive a visit from the symbols of WYD.
The symbols of World Youth Day have been on a pilgrimage through the Diocese of Aveiro since the beginning of March and will arrive on the 18th in the Archdiocese of Anadia. On March 20, the Pilgrim Cross and the icon of Our Lady Salus Populi Romani will arrive at the parish of Mogofores, where a special programme is being prepared.
At 9 pm, there will be a procession through the streets of Mogofores. Afterwards, the symbols will be welcomed in the shrine and the Rosary will be prayed with meditations on the life of St. John Bosco, patron of the Parish and the Shrine and patron of WYD Lisbon 2023. At 10 pm the youth of the parish registered for WYD will celebrate their commitment before the symbols. Between 10.30 and 11.30 pm the festive oratory “Mogofores Alive” will take place and during the night there will be a vigil with the symbols.
The 13 youngsters from the Parish of Mogofores who are registered for World Youth Day participated in the welcoming of the symbols in the city of Aveiro on March 3rd. The Pilgrim Cross and the icon of Our Lady arrived in the city by train, accompanied by youth from the Dioceses of Braga and Aveiro, members of the two Local Organizing Committees, the Archbishop Primate of Braga, D. José Cordeiro, and the President of the WYD Lisbon 2023 Foundation, D. Américo Aguiar. Upon arrival, hundreds of young people from various parishes, civil, and religious authorities, including the Bishop of Aveiro, D. António Moiteiro, welcomed the symbols at the station square and accompanied the procession to the Cathedral of Aveiro.
