The World Youth Day, which will take place in Lisbon next August, will bring to the fore debates that have as their main objective to portray the reality of the new generations.
In order to mark the 100 days to the Lisbon 2023 World Youth Day, the Ecclesia Agency presented, on its Antena 1 radio programme, a programme dedicated to this great meeting of youth with the Pope.
João Fialho, coordinator of WYD DON BOSCO 23, was one of the guests on the programme and in his intervention he stated that the objective of this great meeting is to place young people as “protagonists”. The coordinator of the Salesian Youth Movement also hopes that the week of World Youth Day may serve as a time of “evangelization” during this difficult time the Church is going through.
João Fialho highlighted the great expectation that is felt in welcoming Pope Francis, who has brought to the centre discussions and debates that are not only centred on religious experience, but that “cross religion and society”. In this sense, and in João Fialho’s opinion, Francis was able to “involve more people in this debate”.
The coordinator of WYD DON BOSCO 23 also mentioned that the organization has planned, for the week of WYD, a day for SYM groups, the Festival of the Salesian Youth Movement, which will have moments of “reflection, celebration and prayer”.
João Fialho also emphasized the importance for the Salesians of Don Bosco having been chosen as one of the patrons of this World Youth Day. As he said, the important thing now is to bring the spirit of the “father” to the meeting.
