The first initiative with Pope Francis at World Youth Day, which will take place from August 1st until the 6th 2023 in Lisbon, will be the welcome of young people and is scheduled for August 3rd.
For Friday, August 4th , the Way of the Cross is scheduled, when Francis will again accompany the young people.
According to the program, prepared by the Local Organizing Committee (COL), on Saturday, August 5, the Vigil will take place, which will also be attended by the Pope. WYD Lisbon 2023 will end on Sunday with the final Mass. Presided over by the Supreme Pontiff, the Eucharist will take place on the ground where the stage/altar of the initiative will be set up, next to the Tagus, north of the Parque das Nações.
The program announces the opening of WYD Lisbon 2023, on August 1, Tuesday, with a Mass presided over by the Cardinal-Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Manuel Clemente.
The six days that make up WYD Lisboa 2023 will also be marked by initiatives such as a Youth Festival, a Vocations Fair, Catecheses, as well as moments of prayer and conviviality.
