Altice Portugal is the technological partner of WYD Lisbon 2023, which will be held from the 1st to the 6th of August 2023. The event, which will bring together millions of participants to meet in Lisbon, thus assured telecommunications network coverage, namely the provision of access to fiber-optic network, reinforcement of mobile coverage, as well as access to wi-fi network.
The technology company will also be responsible for developing a cell phone application that will be used during the World Youth Day, however, many details about it have not yet been disclosed.
As a response to the appeal put forward by Pope Francis, that WYD Lisbon 2023 should be “original,” D. Américo Aguiar, Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon and president of the WYD Lisbon 2023 Foundation, wanted to ensure that this edition of WYD will not be a “photocopy of previous ones,” and, for this, the support of this great technological company will be “fundamental”.
Both for the young people who will participate in WYD in person in Lisbon, and for those who will join the meeting from their respective countries, it is important that the experience can also be integrated into the virtual environment, allowing everyone “to be connected to Portugal and interact”.
The World Youth Day is a meeting that brings together young people from all over the world in a true celebration of youth, and invites them to build a more just and united world.
