On World Environment Day, World Youth Day reaffirms its commitment to sustainability. More than 8,000 trees have already been planted by the world platform Global Tree Initiative and dedicated to WYD.
Keeping in mind the climate change that the planet Earth is facing, Pope Francis also appeals to young people, through the Encyclical Laudato Si’, to take care of our Common Home.
This appeal was received by the organization of WYD, which has developed several activities to combat part of the environmental footprint caused by the preparation of this great event. One of these initiatives has to do, precisely, with the planting of trees, through the world platform Global Tree Initiative.
According to data from the Global Tree Initiative platform, there are new trees planted and dedicated to WYD Lisbon 2023 all over the world, from Portugal to Spain, passing through France, India, Australia, Angola, Guinea or Brazil.
