It was recently presented the official image for the Days in the dioceses, which will take place from the 26th to the 31st of July 2023, in 17 dioceses from all over continental Portugal and the islands.
The author of the image is Miguel Mendes, the coordinator of the Communications teams for the Salesian Foundation.
With the purpose of showing the host Dioceses for the Days in the dioceses, the chosen image shows the 17 cathedrals of the various host Dioceses, drawn from photographs, with some identifying details of each one, following the graphic line of WYD Lisbon 2023.
For Miguel Mendes, the biggest challenge of the project was “to be able to put the 17 cathedrals in a single image, in a dynamic way while keeping details that could easily identify each of the cathedrals. To achieve this idea, the designer and coordinator of the Communications team of the Salesian Foundation, opted for “the use of different perspectives”. Maintaining the graphic line of WYD Lisbon 2023, the image is composed of three main colours: red, green and yellow.
“It is an honour and joy to be able to leave my mark on an event that has been dreamed of since I belonged to the team of the National Department of Youth Ministry and participated in WYD 2011, which took place in Madrid,” he emphasizes.
Committed to the preparation of this WYD Lisbon 2023, Miguel Mendes highlights “working for a year in the communication of WYD DON BOSCO 23 and now, in the image of the Days in the Dioceses, is a culmination of years of work for the communication of the Church and Youth Ministry in Portugal.”
Days in Dioceses
The Days in Dioceses are an itinerary of preparation for WYD Lisbon 2023, designed for pilgrims and their host communities. Thus, in the week prior to WYD Lisbon 2023, the dioceses of Algarve, Angra, Aveiro, Beja, Braga, Bragança-Miranda, Coimbra, Évora, Funchal, Guarda, Lamego, Leiria-Fátima, Portalegre-Castelo Branco, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Viseu will receive pilgrims from around the world.
The goal of this initiative is to provide an ecclesial experience of shared faith, of belonging to the Church, of community, as well as to get to know the richness of the traditions, culture and heritage of each of these 17 dioceses.
