Close to the magnificent Serra da Estrela, in the district of Guarda, municipality of Seia, is the Social Care Centre of Nossa Senhora de La Salette of Paranhos da Beira. Currently the activity of this institution of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians includes Baby Day Care, Pre-School Education and Free Time Activity Centre, in addition to catechesis, liturgical animation, religious support to the elderly and sick, and support to needy families.
