The Salesians of Lisbon have recently promoted clarification sessions for the Host Families and Volunteers who want to be part of the World Youth Day Lisbon 2023.
After the presentation of the programme for World Youth Day Lisbon 2023, Fr. Luís Almeida, pastoral director for the Salesians of Lisbon and parish priest of the parishes of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres and Santo Condestável, explained to those present the importance and the need for the collaboration of families in welcoming the pilgrims.
These should have the availability, openness and generosity to welcome and communicate with the young Salesian pilgrims of WYD Lisbon 2023, ensuring the minimum accommodation of two pilgrims, with sleeping conditions (bed, mattress, sofa bed or floor space where the pilgrims can rest); and providing them with daily hygiene conditions (bathroom with shower), breakfast each day; at the same time facilitating/helping in the transportation of the pilgrim from his/her home to the Salesian house, should the need arise. This welcome will take place during the week of WYD, from 1 to 6 August 2023.
Fr. Luís Almeida also spoke about the participation/registration of volunteers, clearing up existing doubts, and referring to their important role in carrying out the many tasks that an event of this size requires.
The information sessions regarding the registration of host families and volunteers will be repeated in the other Salesian houses, at a date yet to be announced.
