World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 has been launched in all dioceses and parish communities and the diocese of Setubal is no exception. On March 19, the parish of St. Joseph, in Setubal, presented to its parishioners to WYD Lisbon 2023.
The young coordinators of the Parish Organizational Committee (COP), Diana Marmelo and Nídia Silva, accompanied by the parish priest in charge, Fr. Tarcízio Morais, with the collaboration of Fr. Álvaro Lago, prepared a day that brought together parishioners of all ages.
The afternoon of the 19th was marked by fun. With a peddy paper on WYD, young scouts and catechists were challenged to learn more about what World Youth Days are. Through games, songs, prayer, and volunteering, they were able to feel some of what young people live and feel during WYD week.
After all the activities, the young people enjoyed a snack, before heading to the Eucharist. The community assembly was very numerous on the occasion of the celebration of St. Joseph, welcoming with joy the presentation of WYD Lisbon 2023.
At Thanksgiving, Fr. Tarcízio presented the members of the COP and the representative of the Youth Department of the Diocese (COV), Sofia Costa.
The young coordinators made a contextualization about what WYD is, their origin and what WYD Lisbon 2023 will be. They also referenced the Salesian Youth Movement, in its preparation for WYD Lisbon 2023, where they highlighted the brand “WYD DON BOSCO 23” and the great event of August 2, 2023, where thousands of young people from MJS will gather.
Sofia Costa also presented some of the work that the Diocese of Setúbal has done and emphasized the importance that the community has in accompanying young people, whether praying, motivating, or even as volunteers, who can carry out varied missions.
This moment ended with the delivery of the cross of WYD Lisbon 2023, by Sofia Costa, to the coordinators of the COP, Diana Marmelo and Nídia Silva, in a sign of confidence in the path started and that will be going.
At the conclusion of this special day of launch of WYD Lisbon 2023 a prayer concert took place with the presence of Claudine Pinheiro.
