The Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians landed this afternoon in Lisbon from Italy. Rosa Cândida Gomes and a young woman from the SYM and former student of the FMA, travelled to Portela Airport to welcome Sr Chiara Cazzuola.
Sofia Guerreiro, representing all the students of the Salesian Sisters’ presences in Portugal, handed Mother General a letter in which the young people thanked her for her closeness and presence in Portugal on the occasion of World Youth Day.
This will be the first major gathering of young people in which Sister Chiara Cazzuola will participate after her election as Superior of the Institute on 5 October 2021.
Sister Chiara Cazzuola will participate in the various moments of the Salesian programme for World Youth Day Lisbon 2023, with a special focus on SYM Day on 2 August.
Three central moments of this day, which will gather in Estoril more than 8,000 Salesian pilgrims from all over the world, will be broadcast live on Youtube. The Eucharist presided over by the Rector Major at the end of the morning in the Church of Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora, in Prazeres, Lisbon, at 12.15 pm; the Prayer of the Rosary for Religious Vocations, at 4 pm, in the Salesian Church of Estoril; and the SYM Festival from 6.15 pm which will end with the “good night” of the Rector Major and Mother General to the Salesian youth.
