From the 1st to the 6th of August, the Salesians of the Province of Central America (CAM) will be present at WYD Lisbon 2023, with a delegation of young people from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), coming from the six countries that make up the Province (Guatemala, El El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama).
The young people were able to prepare themselves through formation sessions promoted by Salesian priests, delegates from each country, and by the Provincial Delegate for SYM, Fr. Jean Paul Bethancourt.
Even though, they will all be together on Sunday, the 30th, each delegation will follow a different travel itinerary towards Lisbon.
In all, 188 CAM pilgrims will be present at WYD Lisbon 2023. All young people will participate in the SYM Festival, on August 2nd, an event that will be attended by Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians; and Sister Chiara Cazzuola, Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
Pilgrims will also be present at the main events of WYD Lisbon 23 and at some events promoted by WYD DON BOSCO 2023, such as the concert “Pray with us”, at the Church of S. Paulo, on the 3rd of August. Before saying goodbye to Lisbon, the young pilgrims will also go to the Sanctuary of Fátima.
The Salesian Bulletin for Central America will accompany, step by step, the experiences of the pilgrims, which will be published on different social networks, thanks to six correspondents who will share their experience day by day.
