The participants in the forthcoming World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 (WYD) at Salesianos Lisboa school gathered on January 12 for the second “Meeting in preparation for WYD Lisbon 2023”.
Having as its theme the “Patrons of Youth“, the event sought to create and strengthen bonds of knowledge among the various young people from the 8th to 12th grades. After a brief formative moment on the figures that serve as models for this year’s WYD, the participants were challenged to share who they are and what motivates them to be part of what is considered the world’s largest gathering of Catholic youth. In the words of Miguel Miranda, 11th E3 year student, “this was another important step in this journey that a large group of people – more or less known to each other – have been making since December 2022 and which will have its high point between 1 and 6 August 2023, a week certainly unforgettable for our lives!”
After dinner and a typically Salesian conviviality, the day ended with “Praying in the Moonlight”, the Prayer Vigil that the Salesian pastoral Lisbon organizes every month, this time inspired by WYD Toronto 2002. It was a moment that Miguel Miranda highlighted as “impossible to describe in words, because it is only possible to understand it from within”.
The next “WYD Lisbon 2023 Preparation Meeting” is scheduled for next February 9.
