The official release of Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal in August for WYD Lisbon 2023 was announced today by the Holy See.
His Holiness will arrive in Lisbon on August 2 and return to Rome on August 6. On August 5, and at the express wish of Pope Francis, a trip to Fatima is planned.
Pope Francisco was in Portugal in 2017 to preside over the May 13 ceremonies at the Shrine of Fatima, where shepherds Jacinta and Francisco Marto were also canonised. This will be his second visit to Portugal.
Pope Francisco’s four-day visit to Portugal will be the longest visit ever made by a Supreme Pontiff to our country.
