World Youth Day Lisbon 2023, the largest meeting of young people from all over the world with the Pope, will feature performances by some Portuguese artists at the Central Events.
Buba Espinho, Carminho, Cecília Rodrigues, Héber Marques, Mariza, Miguel Carmona, Mimi Froes, Rancho de Cantadores de Aldeia Nova de São Bento, Salvador Seixas and Tiago Bettencourt are the Portuguese artists who will be present at the international meeting that takes place in Lisbon from 1 to 6 August.
The performances will take place in the Central Events that will be attended by Pope Francis, namely the Welcoming Ceremony and the Way of the Cross, which will take place on the Hill of the Meeting (Eduardo VII Park); and the Vigil, which will take place in Campo da Graça, in Tejo Park.
The national artists join the WYD Lisbon 2023 Choir and Orchestra, which includes musicians from all over the country, and Ensemble23, made up of young dancers from 22 nationalities, with the aim of making WYD a place of beauty. As Pope Francis said: “Beauty is capable of creating communion, because it unites God, man and creation in a single symphony; because it unites the past, the present and the future; because it attracts different peoples and distant nations to the same place and involves them in the same gaze”.
