The World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 will present, during the Youth Festival, 38 conferences that will address themes related to vocation, mission, challenges of today’s society, citizenship and the professional world. The conferences will take place in different locations, spread across the city of Lisbon and will be conducted by several countries.
The Youth Festival is an initiative that is already part of the history of World Youth Day. Featuring various cultural, religious and sporting events, led by WYD pilgrims, this is an opportunity for youngsters to get together in an atmosphere of joy, promoting universality and sharing.
As part of this festival, the 38 conferences scheduled for this WYD intend to be a unique experience that can lead youngsters to think about different subjects.
One of the topics discussed is how young Catholics can manifest their faith through their profession in different areas such as education, health and the economy. Emphasis on Francisco’s Economy, which will be debated at the Catholic University of Lisbon with experts on the subject
The Patrons of WYD Lisbon 2023 will also be highlighted, with the Champalimaud Foundation hosting conferences that will feature the testimonies of people who lived with some of the Patrons, such as Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Chiara Badano. These conferences will count on the testimony of relatives and friends of these Patrons. In addition to these Blesseds, pilgrims will also be able to hear and learn more about the life of Venerable Guido Shaffer.
The Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB), with the help of the Center de Recherche et d’Anthropologie des Vocations (CRAV), will be the stage for some conferences on vocation in the Church and its presence in marriage, priesthood and male and female consecrated life. female, with the aim of awakening the vocational awareness of each youngster. Pilgrims will be able to hear testimonies from priests, consecrated men and women from various parts of the world and in different languages.
