On the weekend of October 15 and 16, a group of 15 young people from the Salesians of Mirandela participated in Lisbon in the National SYM Meeting organized by WYD Don Bosco 23.
This meeting, which included about 400 young people from Salesian houses throughout the country, was a preparation for World Youth Day that will take place in August 2023 in Lisbon.
On Saturday, all the participants could learn more about the lives of some saints, be inspired by their actions and ways of thinking. In addition, they had the opportunity to walk around the city of Lisbon, making some stops, where they were invited to reflect on several themes. During the night there was also a vigil followed by a moment of adoration.
On Sunday morning, the young people went out again to the streets of the city, where they dedicated themselves to informing the population about the World Youth Day, especially the one that will take place in our country. This was followed by a mass in the Church of the Holy Constable and then the return home.
Throughout the weekend several testimonies were shared by several people who have already been to the World Youth Day in previous years, something that made the young people very excited about the one that will take place in Portugal, especially those who will have this experience for the first time.
The World Youth Day is a meeting of all the youth of the world with the Pope, so it is a celebration of youth, faith, unity and sharing. However, the journey of young people in this celebration does not only begin in August next year. It is a mission that has already begun in each of us and will continue even after the Days are over.
