The fourth day of World Youth Day began with the presence of Pope Francis in the Park of Forgiveness, where he confessed three young people from Italy, Spain and Guatemala.
The Holy Father then took part in a meeting with socio-charitable assistance centres at the Serafina Parish Centre. For most of the pilgrims, the day began with another Rise Up moment, the last of these intense meetings of sharing and prayer. In the afternoon, there were several moments of music and fun promoted by World Youth Day, where the Salesian Youth Movement also took part. At around 2pm, a group of 60 young people from the Salesians of Funchal enlivened the Terreiro do Paço with a flash mob where several pilgrims joined the group to dance and cheer up the city of Lisbon. At the Portas do Sol viewpoint, the Tambóra group delighted the young people who were there with a percussion show. Still in the Salesian context, at the Salesian College in Lisbon, the Rector Major, Mother General and her counsellors for Youth Ministry, Fr Miguel Ángel García and Sister Runita Borja, took part in a meeting with journalists. To end the day on a high note, on the Hill of Encounter, the young people met with Pope Francis for the second time to recall, through a Way of the Cross, Jesus’ love for us.
